Octopus Agile vs Octopus Flux

Hello.

Has anyone moved to Octopus Agile and found they're spending more than if they were on Flux? A bit of background.

I'm on Flux at the moment, we have a 12kw battery and 6kw solar panels, with an EV.

Generally at the moment, we charge up our battery overnight, and that will see us through most of the day and top it up 3pm-4pm (if it's not sunny/during the winter). This means we can have enough to see us through the peak price times. We do generally use an electric oven around 6pm for half an hour or so, and use the tumble dryer and washing machine during the day, but I charge my car and use the dishwasher overnight in cheap times.

I'm trying to work out whether the move to Agile would be worry-free enough given the prices.

From what I've seen recently, we would be paying about 50% of what we do now for our import but probably only getting 50% of what we get back on our solar export...

Has anyone found themselves thinking anything like:

  • "I can't turn the kettle on, it's £1/kwh at the moment, so I can't justify having a cup of tea until 8pm"

  • "Blimey, it's been really expensive today/this week/month, I wish I was on Flux"

  • "I would be better off on Flux given how much I can solar I can export"?

Thanks!

Update:

Having switched in January, we have saved a good amount (I’d estimate since moving to Agile, we paid about 40% of what we would have done on Flux). This is mainly thanks to the battery. Our 12kw battery meets most of our daily needs, so charging overnight and between 12 and 4 in the afternoon has (almost) always been cheaper than Flux. It has also given the extra time to tumble dry or charge the car.

There have even been several days where we’ve been paid for our electricity use!
