Botley West Solar Farm

Is Ripple Energy keeping an eye on the massive proposed Botley West solar farm in Oxfordshire? The inevitable local resistance to the proposal is building in advance of a planning application and following the developer's initial consultations. So too is local support. Private Eye have dug out that the most senior person behind the financing of it seems to have two names -- a French name, uncannily similar to her other, Russian, name; so is there Russian money behind it? Also the company seems to have no experience of Solar PV installations (from what I recall of the Private Eye articles, which I have now binned).

The concept is fairly well developed, I think; the landowners are wanting to go ahead (Blenheim Estates and an Oxford College, as I recall); we are told there is potential ready-to-go grid connection. If the financing goes belly-up (which it looks like it might) and local resistance remains high, would a Ripple Energy project offering cheaper electricity to local residents win them over?
