We've recently got a solar PV and batteries system and we need to change our old meter - sad because it has been fun watching the wheel go backwards! Octopus have told me that the tariff offering cheaper electricity at night wouldn't be available, even if we get a smart meter and it works in our cellar, unless we switch from Coop/Ripple. That seems different to what I heard elsewhere. Can anybody throw light on this? In particular do any of you with smart meters use other Octopus tariffs? I particularly want one where we get cheaper night time electricity to charge batteries at home and in our car.
