question and answer from the FAQs about how much we should buy if we have home solar already

Hi folks

In the FAQs it states "When calculating how much of a Ripple project to own, we recommend you deduct your annual home solar generation from your annual consumption and input your net consumption rather than your gross consumption. Ripple does not interfere with your FiT or other export payments you receive. There is no need to change your FiT contract, you can continue to receive FiT payments as you do now." I don't really understand how this should be the case. I create about 2000 kwh per year but still have to pay for 3000 kwh per annum in terms of electricity used. If I follow this advice then I would only be buying 1000 kwh from this project but that would leave 2000 kwh not covered? Confused😕
