I have bought 5,346 kWh of allocation for Kirk Hill. We don't have gas in our village and it is likely that our consumption will be well in excess of this.
As part of our renovation we are replacing our roof and so I am thinking of the amount of solar to stick on the roof. I may be able to have the system installed free of charge (thanks to my son who is an installer) making it attractive to stick 26 panels up of 420w per panel.
We have an east, west and south facing roof and they would be evenly distributed across all aspects (30% pitch also helps).
The upshot is that I expect we can generate 100% of our energy through panels for 9 months of the year meaning that I will have an excess during this time. I will also have a battery bank of around 14Kw. Kirk Hill then will come into its own during the 3 most energy intensive months but the savings during the rest of the year need to be aggregated in this time as well.
Basically, I don't want to have wasted the investment into Kirk Hill.
