Solar Panels with Loft Conversion- looking for advice

I’ve so far delayed getting solar as only have an East / West roof orientation and live in North West England, put off by expensive PV installation quotes & (stupidly?!) had doubts about payback period.

Also we are quite likely do a loft conversion with dormer windows in a few years time.

For the above reasons I’m invested in Kirk Hill for around 2/3rds of my electricity use, I’m a big Ripple fan but like the idea that solar PV will improve my home’s EPC rating, electricity generated (that I can use) will be free & will not come with network fees / charges attached.

My question is which of the 4 options below is best way to proceed?

  1. Get solar PV install on both east and west now, when loft conversion done move panels on top of the dormer conversion (which would be on East facing roof, West roof won’t be affected, apart from maybe a Velux window which I could plan for now with PV spacing)

  2. Get solar panels just on my west roof and accept I won’t generate much electricity until afternoon, but keeps things simple, cheaper & could combine with battery / overnight charging

  3. Delay solar PV installation until loft conversion being done, I can take advantage of scaffolding that will be up anyway.

  4. Don’t bother with rooftop solar, I don’t have a south facing roof & too much hassle given I plan loft conversion, just invest in Ripple Project 3!

If anyone has experience of solar and flat roofs / dormer windows it would be greatly appreciated, go easy, I’m not a solar expert!
